    D'Youville University is looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented academic leader to fill the position of Dean of the Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing (PGH SON).

    The Dean is the Chief Academic Officer and Nursing Administrator of the Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing and will be responsible for the accomplishment of the mission, vision, strategic goals, and expected outcomes. This position is designed to provide leadership and oversight in a collaborative, active, engaged academic community.

    The right candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the kind of leadership abilities that allows for relationships and agreements developed with academic, research, and health care communities at the local, state, and national levels.

    The Dean assures compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies, including the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the New York State Education Department.

    The Dean is responsive to the leadership of D'Youville University, including the President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and, through them, the Board of Trustees. Additionally, the Dean works collaboratively with the communities of interest of the SON, including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, families, alumni, donors, community agencies, schools of nursing, and university deans.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead external fundraising efforts and grant-writing initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies, including the New York State Education Department, Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
    • Develop and maintain a leadership structure to support the D’Youville University mission and goals.
    • Collaborates with faculty to ensure program effectiveness for all degree offerings, oversee curriculum development, and maintain program accreditation.
    • Guides faculty recruitment and retention process, ensuring compliance with D'Youville University policies and EEOC guidelines.
    • Supports faculty in the Boyer's model of scholarship.
    • Interface with the Department Personnel Committee on faculty renewal, promotion, and tenure guidelines established by the PGH SON faculty.
    • Foster a climate of shared governance in the PGH SON, academic freedom and collegiality.
    • Manage the schools’ budget, seek funding for initiatives, and ensure curriculum delivery through various budget allocations. Balanced budget allocations. Ensures delivery of the curriculum through full-time, adjunct, and overload budgets.
    • Support faculty development through funding for continuing education, events on campus, and/or attendance at professional conferences.
    • Monitor program enrollment, conduct feasibility studies, and assess the need for new programs. Accountable for setting academic standards for admission and requirements for graduation.
    • Represent the PGH SON at various events on and off campus sponsored by the SON, or representation through a designee, including, but not limited to: PGH SON Advisory Council, New Student and Accepted Student Days, Sigma Theta Tau Induction and the Professional Nurses Association of Western New York Research Day, Alumni meetings, Student Orientation sessions, Honors Convocation, Pinning Ceremonies, White Coat Ceremonies, Commencement, and other such events.
    • Represents the PGH SON on the Dean's Council, the University Academic Council, as well as other University groups as designated by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
    • Serves as the Chair of the PGH SON Faculty Organization and participate in relevant external organizations in accordance with bylaws.
    • Serves on the New York Council of Deans, the Catholic Deans of Nursing Schools, and other such organizations representing the PGH SON.
    • Attend key nursing conferences to position the PGH SON for success, including the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Semiannual Dean's meetings and other meetings as deemed appropriate to positioning the PGH SON to accomplish the mission, strategic goals, and expected outcomes.
    • Promote the accomplishments of the PGH SON and ensure timely communication among constituencies.
    • Ensure the communication of important information among PGH SON constituencies in a timely manner.
    • Act as the PGH SON's ambassador to the community and support legislative efforts aligned with the President's office.

    Qualifications:

    • Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of New York (or eligible).
    • Master of Science in Nursing, and an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field.
    • Minimum six years of experience in nursing education with increasing academic leadership responsibilities.
    • Teaching experience with expertise in pedagogy and online course delivery, including advanced practice programs.
    • Preferred experience as a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education evaluator.
    • Experience in both undergraduate and graduate nursing education.
    • Strong analytical skills for budget planning and outcomes assessment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Superb negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
    • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to facilitate change to achieve the D’Youville University mission, vision, strategic goals, and expected program, student, and faculty outcomes.

    Pay: $150,000 - $165,000 Annually

    The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
