Science Hub Staff:
Provides instructional aide, tutoring, and resources to students needing assistance in their science courses
This is a part-time position of 19 hours or less per week with an hourly salary of $20.00.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
· 60% Provides group instruction and one on one tutoring; communicates and explains familiar and new concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
· 10% Monitors daily activities in the room; enforces rules for the Study Space and maintains accurate records of students assisted
· 10% Prepares handouts and supplemental data.
· 5% Keeps current in STEM and Health Science Pathways, as well as the transfer and application processes.
· 5% Keeps the science space clean and organized
· 5% Supervises peer tutors.
· 5% Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Provides friendly service, maintaining an effective and supportive relationship with students, faculty and staff.
Collaborates with the Science faculty to produce study aids and resources.
Participates in professional development and stays current in both the professional field and in current teaching/learning best practices.
Maintains confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts (FERPA).
Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations relating to higher education.
Attends departmental meetings

Qualifications:
· A Bachelor's degree in fields of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Allied Health or other science-centered fields is required.
· An MS in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Allied Health or other science-centered fields is preferred.
· Experience in education and instruction.
· Ability to clearly communicate and explain concepts to students of varying academic backgrounds.
· Patience and encouragement when working with students.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Respect for privacy and demonstrate appropriate professional communication
