Position Summary:
St. Mark's School seeks a skilled and collaborative Science Teacher to join the Science Department in the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful applicant will join a department that cares deeply about developing our students' ability to conduct scientific investigations, think critically, and draw evidence-based conclusions. As a Science teacher, you will be a member of the Science department and report to the head of the department and the assistant head of school/ dean of faculty. We invite interested candidates to apply by completing an application on the St. Mark's School Employment page.
What You'll Do as Science Teacher
As a St. Mark's faculty member, you will teach in the Science department, advise three to six students, attend all-school and faculty-required events, and coach or lead co-curricular programming. Other key responsibilities are as follows:
- Teach four sections of science across the range of offerings in the department, and work collaboratively with a teaching team to design and evaluate the curriculum.
- Provide students in the classroom with timely, ongoing, and meaningful feedback, including comments for each student at the end of grading periods
- Support a residential house team by supervising evening hours once weekly and five Saturday nights per year
- Participate in St. Mark's Experiential Learning Programming, which includes course design and development in St. Mark's Saturdays and in Lion Term.
- Participate in community life through Social Duty (four weekends per year)
- Give up to six admission tours per year
Required Skills and Abilities
- Master's degree in Science and two or more years of science teaching experience.
- Ability to structure effective learning experiences for novice through advanced science students.
- Enthusiasm for work with adolescent students in many contexts
- Outstanding task and time management skills with high attention to detail
- Strong leadership, collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Google Suite including Docs, Slides, and Sheets
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an educational setting, including familiarity with residential communities and the needs of adolescents
- Experience teaching Chemistry and/or Physics at the secondary school level.
- Experience teaching in an interdisciplinary curriculum and/or teaching multiple subjects.
- Success working with culturally diverse populations as well as a commitment to inclusive pedagogy
- Commitment to continuous self-reflection and professional growth

Salary:
Pay is commensurate with experience. For reference, please find the base salary bands for faculty members whose primary responsibilities are in the classroom below:
Years of experience between 31 and 40 years: $90,100 - $94,900
Years of experience between 21 and 30 years: $70,890 - $89,850
Years of experience between 11 and 20 years: $56,670 - $68,900
Years of experience between 0 and 10 years: $27,810 - $53,770
