We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Scientific Advisor to oversee the scientific methods of our materials testing facility and guide the laboratory's overall scientific direction. Drawing inspiration from historic scientists who established new standards in research—such as Louis Pasteur's pioneering work in microbiology or Marie Curie’s breakthroughs in chemical analysis—you will play a vital role in ensuring that our lab upholds the highest standards of scientific practice. You will be responsible for overseeing complex testing processes, ensuring rigorous quality control, and mentoring staff. As a leader at Tundra Testing, you will foster a culture of precision and innovation, ensuring that our lab continues to be a trusted partner for Alaska's industries. Responsibilities: Oversee Scientific Methods • Direct all scientific methods for the materials testing facility, ensuring accurate testing for THC, THCA, CBD, CBDA, and CBN potency. • Conduct terpene profile analysis and test for harmful microbials (e.g., Escherichia coli and salmonella), residual solvents, toxins, pesticides, and dangerous molds or mildew. • Lead plant sex identification testing to aid cultivation and production accuracy. Ensure Laboratory Quality Standards • Establish and maintain quality control and assurance protocols to meet and exceed industry standards, following the example of historical scientists like Sir Francis Bacon, who championed rigorous methods. • Conduct regular on-site inspections, maintain specimen retention, and ensure the security and chain of custody for all samples. • Supervise lab space organization and ensure accurate records and timely reporting of results. Supervise Laboratory Staff • Train and mentor lab technicians, fostering a culture of continuous education and scientific excellence, much like the collaborative mentorship seen in the labs of early scientific pioneers. • Oversee staff performance and education, ensuring that all team members receive regular training in the latest scientific practices and technologies. Compliance and Certification • Ensure the laboratory complies with all state and federal regulations, including obtaining and maintaining an Alaska Marijuana Handler Permit. • Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay current on scientific advancements and regulatory changes, promoting ongoing professional development.
