  • Responsibilities

    Keliomics is a seed-stage biopharma company with a proprietary, ex vivo human tissue platform. Our inaugural therapeutic areas are breast cancer, melanoma, and metabolic diseases.

    The Scientist Investigator position is a leadership role responsible for completing the experimental work for an NCI-funded project in breast cancer (1R43CA291515-01). The Scientist Investigator reports to the Scientific Director and will manage direct reports.

    In this role you will:

    · Apply your scientific training and experience to review study protocols.

    · Perform hands-on experimental benchwork approximately 60% of the time.

    · Generate breast cancer 3D models such as spheroids and/or organoids.

    · Incorporate breast cancer 3D models to ex vivo human breast tissue.

    · Drug the resulting ex vivo breast tumor models with clinical standard-of-care regimens.

    · Track the therapeutic responses of the ex vivo breast tumor models with time-lapse fluorescence microscopy.

    · Record all experimental data in an electronic lab notebook (Benchling).

    · Be responsible and accountable for the execution, coordination and communication of all study work, including scheduling, documentation, and reporting.

    · Motivate, direct, and support a team to ensure successful project execution

    · Assure that results are accurately recorded, verified, organized, and reported.

    · Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with the protocol, amendments, and facility SOPs.

    · Proactively recognize, document, and resolve any potential issue that may affect studies.

    Requirements

    · PhD with 1 or more years postgraduate experience, preferably in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO environment

    · Prior experience producing 3D breast cancer models (i.e. spheroids or organoids)

    · Prior experience in wet lab oncology

    · Experience leading and motivating teams

    · Prior experience with human biospecimens and cells

    · Prior experience with automated fluorescence microscopy

    · Protective HBV vaccination titer or willingness to be vaccinated upon starting the role

    · Experience performing BSL2 work

    Work Environment

    · This position involves duties in a laboratory, including light exposure to hazardous materials.

    · Ability to lift at least 30lbs.

    · Able to bend, kneel, sit, and stand for prolonged periods of time

    · Must be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

    · Must be able to perform in an environment with exposure to animals, animal dander, animal byproducts, and bedding materials

    Equipment: Cytation 10 incubator fluorescence microscope with BioSpa, autoclave, centrifuges, and other common laboratory equipment
