OVERVIEW OF POSITION

Scribekick is seeking highly motivated applicants to join our scribe team that focuses on preparing you for a career in medicine. As a virtual scribe, you will accompany your assigned physician during visits remotely from your home office. During the visit, while the physician examines, you will chart directly into the electronic medical record (EMR), in real time through audio. By doing this, you ensure the accurate and timely documentation of the medical chart. This position reports to the assigned Chief Scribe.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accompany physician examinations virtually and document patient information into the EMR during the patient encounter (history, chief complaint, review of systems, physical exam)
• Successfully operate the EMR to input documentation
• Document any procedures performed by the physician, as well as patient orders including laboratory tests, medications, etc.
• Exhibit excellence in medical terminology and billing & coding knowledge in all documentation
• Understand and observe legal concepts such as HIPAA, confidentiality, etc.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Passion and long term interest in the veterinary field with dedication to succeed
• Able to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently and work as part of a team
• Strong and professional written and verbal English communication skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to details
• Ability to accurately collect, record, document information
• Uphold customer service by anticipating needs and feedback 
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, as well adaptable to providers needs
• Computer literacy, efficiency, and troubleshooting
• Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and policies at all times

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous EMR experience and healthcare experience, volunteer work, internship, research, etc.
• Previous veterinary experience or volunteer work
• Typing test score of 65 wpm
• Currently not enrolled in degree
• GPA of 3.2
• Previous coursework, not limited to, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, biology, chemistry in a health-related major

REQUIRED 

• Access to a quiet work area that is free from distractions. Maintain confidentiality standards while accessing or communicating patient information that adhere to HIPAA and company policies.
• For this position, you will need to provide your own equipment. This includes computer/laptop, internet, and headphones. 
• Must reside in one of the following states: Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this position, a Medical Scribe is regularly exposed to excessive typing, viewing computer monitor and sitting for extended periods of time.
