    Overview of the Role

    Reporting to the Managing Director of Advancement, the Director of Communications will set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate Seabury’s mission and impact. The Director of Communications will advance Seabury as a leader in the region for our areas of expertise, and expand the resources we have available for caregivers and older adults.

    The Director of Communications will work closely with a senior peer group within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    ● Digital Media Marketing

    ○ Create and edit compelling digital content (video, graphics, etc.) and branded visuals

    ○ Develop original content sharing Seabury’s expertise around aging

    ○ Curate and disseminate Resource newsletter in alignment with target audiences and Seabury programs

    ○ Cultivate and expand Seabury’s online presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube

    ○ Leverage Google Analytics, Google Ads, and other platforms’ data to improve digital marketing funnel

    ○ Manage annual Google Ads grant budget by creating ad campaigns, overseeing targeted marketing strategy and purchasing keywords

    ○ Ensure the website is up to date.

    ○ Utilize virtual platforms to promote events and other fundraising initiatives

    ● Strategy

    ○ Collaborate with team members across Seabury to develop creative and mission-centric messaging that articulates Seabury’s special role

    ○ Develop strong and consistent branding and messaging for Seabury

    ○ Develop and execute an annual communications calendar, content plan, and design and approval process that covers all social media, online, and offline communications

    ○ Develop and maintain productive relationships with members of mainstream press

    ● Project Management

    ○ Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, flyers, annual report, e-newsletters, and Seabury’s website and social media accounts

    ○ Support organization leadership, staff, and community members to provide compelling testimony at Council hearings

    ○ Work with Seabury team members to collect, organize, and share compelling stories from Seabury’s clients and staff

    ○ Work with Managing Director of Advancement to craft creative and mission-centric fundraising collateral that articulates Seabury’s case for support

    Key Qualifications

    ● Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field

    ● 5-6 years of experience, including related nonprofit experience

    ● Experience with video content creation and editing

    ● Experience with digital photography

    ● Awareness of and proficiency with communications technologies

    ● Experience in stakeholder/community engagement

    ● Clear and concise communication with team members and senior management

    ● Demonstrated ability to write clearly/succinctly for different purposes

    ● Strong and confident leadership

    ● Effective team player with excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate diplomatically and professionally with a wide variety of constituencies

    ● Understanding or interest in the challenges and opportunities facing the older residents of the metro DC region, possessing sensitivity to the needs of older persons.
