Job Description:
Seasonal, part-time techs work directly with the Biologist I and Biology Technician to survey mosquito populations, perform mosquito-borne disease surveillance and gather, compile and record data. The Biologist Il provides direction and supervision for this position.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Deploy and maintain various mosquito traps, C02 tanks (attractant) and gravid water bait Assist in collecting, sorting and speciating trapped mosquitoes and prepare mosquito pools for arboviral testing (on the job training provided)
- Assist in collecting blood samples from sentinel chickens and maintain those flocks Record and maintain pertinent data
- Perform various other tasks assigned by the Biologist Il & Biologist I
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Requires High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Experience
- College level coursework in Biology, Entomology, Public Health or related fields Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a Division of Motor Vehicles report acceptable to the Commission's insurance carrier and in compliance with the Commission's driving standards. Must pass appropriate medical examinations
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and traverse uneven terrain
- Must be able to work outside, often in unfavorable weather conditions
Hourly Rate/Schedule:
$16.00/hour, Monday — Friday work week, start time 6:30 a.m. with variable schedule

Approximately April 14th to October 24th
