Seasonal Sales Associate & Fabulous Foodie

We are currently hiring a few Seasonal Sales Associates at The Spice & Tea Exchange® in historic Downtown Portsmouth. The Spice & Tea Exchange® is a specialty retail shop that sells spices, herbs, teas, spice blends, rubs and hot and cold tea-to-go. We are an energetic team committed to giving an AMAZING customer experience while creating and delivering the highest quality products to help you tantalize your taste buds.
Compensation is $12-17 per hour, plus tips. Additionally there is a $2 shift differential on qualifying shifts. Qualifying shifts include:
Friday: Employee ends work after 6pm
Saturday: All day
Sunday: All day
Scheduling & Types of Work
We are looking for someone to work October through early January.
Shifts are typically 5-8.5 hors, and include a 20 or 30 minute break.
For this position we are looking for someone to primarily work weekdays, but weekend availability is a plus. The scheduled shifts will vary as needed, but will be between the hours of 9:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Currently the days and times where we need the most help are:
Monday: Varies by week but the shifts are 9am-5:30pm and 11am-6pm.
Wednesday: Varies by week but the shifts are 9am-5:30pm and 11am-6pm.
Friday: 9am-2pm or 4pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9am-2pm or 4pm, and mid-day shifts 11am-6pm

Responsibilities
A The Spice & Tea Exchange® employee may be expected to:
Know The Spice & Tea Exchange brand
Learn our brand story and be prepared to share with curious customers
Maintain solid, accurate, and current product knowledge for all categories by completing product knowledge training and reading applicable publications as directed
Enjoy spending time with our guests
Warmly welcome guests into our store, provide a brief store tour and invite them to explore the flavors by lifting lids and smelling the jars
Stay engaged with guests throughout their time in the store, answering product questions and making suggestions for use
Explain promotions and the benefits our loyalty program
Efficiently use POS system to complete sales, process gift cards, returns, exchanges and phone orders
Take pride in our store
Replenish shelves and displays as needed and note low stock levels as per standard operating procedure
Strictly adhere to all Food Safety rules and regulations
Package product for display as needed and directed by store manager
Help maintain store appearance by contributing towards daily chores and cleaning
Comply with operating standards and procedures pertaining to the daily operation of the store to help everything run smoothly from day to day

Through the downtown workforce parking program, park for only $3 a day parking in the Foundry Garage.
Some weekends and holiday are required.
Pay is based on experience and availability.
