    Magone & Company, P.C., a CPA firm in Parsippany, NJ, is seeking a Permanent Seasonal Tax Administrator to support our tax practice. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a tax office, and will want to work with us every year during tax season, with sporadic work as needed after April 15th.

    You will manage the use of our SurePrep OCR scanning/recognition software as we import documents and data for tax preparation. This role requires an understanding of tax documents, experience working with tax returns and workflows, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients and the tax team. You will also work with and mentor interns who will work with you on this program. The expectation is that you will manage the SurePrep program for the long term.

    Key Responsibilities – you will:

    Manage the SurePrep tax software implementation, our users, and troubleshooting.

    Train and mentor interns on the effective use of OCR technology and best practices.

    Support the tax professionals on their role in the review of documents and data.

    Manage the workflows of all tax returns through the SurePrep process.

    Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries related to missing documents relative to prior years.

    Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to SurePrep in the tax preparation process.

    Required Qualifications:

    At least 1 year of tax office experience.

    Familiarity with tax return software - Ultratax or similar.

    Understanding of tax documents and their place in the tax return.

    Strong proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (editing pdf documents).

    Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy.

    Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.

    You will stand out if you have:

    Experience using using SurePrep software or other OCR technology.

    Supervisory experience.

    Familiarity with Thomson Reuters systems (Onvio, AdvanceFlow).

    Knowledge of tax, accounting, and financial terminology.

    Other Job Details:

    On-site in Parsippany, NJ.

    Standard hours 9:00am-5:00pm, overtime as needed during tax season.

    Possibility of doing some remote work.

    Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours (evenings/weekends), January-April.

    Competitive hourly compensation - negotiable based upon your experience.

    Hours/Timing:

    December: training part-time.

    January to mid-February: SurePrep work, and support for admin team in preparation and distribution of engagements letters through our client portal, and provide other support, as needed.

    Mid February through April: arrival of client tax documents will be very heavy, requiring full-time work and some overtime, including PT weekends as the tax deadline approaches. Remote work will be considered for weekends.

    May-November: there may be support needed on an ad hoc basis throughout the year, but it will be very limited.
