POSITION SUMMARY
Assistant/Intern will assist in planning and execution of weddings and other private events. The Special Events Intern will work alongside the Sales & Event Manager and experience firsthand how private events come together and will eventually have the opportunity to run events independently. The position offers a unique role for a talented and enthusiastic person to learn every facet of venue management and event planning in a hand-on capacity.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under the overall direction of the Sales & Event Manager, duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Gain fundamental experience in wedding planning and design and will work on projects requiring organization, creativity, and problem-solving skills
Assist with event preparation, décor set-up, management, and break down
Learn how to give tours of the venue and sell the space
Assist and eventually run wedding ceremony rehearsals and ceremonies
Coordinate various vendors associated with events
Understand and assist with client contracts and billing
Attend final meetings with the client and catering company (to finalize event details and timelines)
REQUIREMENTS
Ideally, the successful candidate is currently an upper-level undergraduate student majoring in event management or hospitality or in a related program/field
A self-starter and team player with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various types of people and personalities
Strong organizational and time management skills
A passion to learn about the wedding and special events industry
Ability to multi-task while quickly adapting to a fast-paced environment
Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office
Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Most Friday & Saturday afternoon/evenings with Sundays off. Approved days off are acceptable, but Friday & Saturday availability is generally required
Must be able to work through the end of August
Job Types: Part-time, Internship
Pay: $18-20 per hour (plus college credit if applicable)
Seasonal (June through August) 20-25 hrs/week
