About Us
PAX Spices & Labs Inc., is a Southern California-based importer, manufacturer’s rep, and wholesale distributor for exotic and aromatic spices, herbs, oleoresins, essential oils, natural colors, and more. We are looking to expand our own seasonings profile as well as provide customers with the additional service of matching their own seasonings and blends. We are a medium sized operation and continue to grow.
Pay Range: $30-$35/hours plus additional benefits
Responsibilities
Lead in the development and matching of dry and liquid seasonings using spices and other food ingredients.
This individual will lead concept ideation, investigate and assess ingredients, and collaborate with customers to engage in the development of new seasonings as well as matching customer’s seasoning requirements.
Lead seasoning and flavor innovation from idea inception through product commercialization.
Provide expertise in expanding product development facility.
Maintain state-of-the-art depth and breadth of knowledge in the areas including food science, seasoning products development, flavor and dairy technology, sensory science etc.
Involvement in product and process development to support seasoning product development and scaling to manufacturing level
Expertise in nutritional and microbiological analysis to provide nutritional statements, and specifications.
Leverage external and internal experts for key analytical and sensory research
Assist QA Manager in maintaining Food Safety / GMP requirements for scaling to manufacturing level.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. & M.S. in Food Science, Food Technology, or Food Chemistry Required
Minimum One year of postgraduate experience, experience in product development, ingredient research and/or flavor research is required; past experience in seasoning & flavor is preferred
Basic understanding of product development, sensory science, material technology etc. required
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results while overcoming obstacles, being resourceful and cost-effective
Passion for food is required, previous culinary training is a plus.
Ability to investigate and research certification and other accreditation requirements to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
