Supervisor of Transportation
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School Diploma
- Knowledge and proficiency in software programs
- Maintains accurate records
- Communicates well both orally and written
- Demonstrates the ability to work with other school personnel and the Board of Education with tact, courtesy and good judgment
Purpose Statement:
The Transportation Secretary assists and supports the Supervisor of Transportation with written work, assignments, details and other matters essential to the daily operation of the Transportation Department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all insurance claims pertaining to vehicle claims
- Responsible for viewing and producing recordings of bus videos
- Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of hard drives and camera systems
- Responsible for camera design placement for buses
- Assists drivers in paperwork necessary for their job
- Assists the Director of Schools with inclement weather notices
- Responsible for entering transportation staff absences into eSchool Solutions Computer System
- Responsible for Fuel Man transactions
- Gathers and completes information required for the annual Transportation Report
- Facilitates Special Education Transportation
- Attends any bus accidents to provide insurance information
- Responsible for the Transportation Department’s inventory
- Responsible for all surplus sales for the Transportation Department
- Responsible for ensuring that all medical certifications are updated and current
- Responsible for the emergency communication plan for the Transportation Department
- Responsible for organizing bus inspections
- Responsible for billing and arranging payment for DOT physicals
- Responsible for maintaining driver’s records as directed by the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation for inspection
- Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor
Capacity and Ability Requirements:
The usual job demands requires the following physical requirements: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
