Position Summary:
The Security Officer - Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing daily security operations during their assigned shift. This position ensures the safety and security of personnel, property, and assets while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. The Shift Lead acts as the first point of contact for Security Officers during their assigned shift and serves as the liaison between team members and management.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision
Oversee the activities of Security Officers during the assigned shift.
Assign duties, monitor performance, and provide guidance to team members.
Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate objectives, assignments, and updates.
Operational Security Duties
Patrol premises to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and assets.
Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access control systems.
Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action.
Ensure compliance with security protocols, policies, and procedures.
Incident Management
Investigate and document security incidents, accidents, and breaches.
Prepare detailed incident reports and escalate issues to Site Supervisor when necessary.
Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency services, and other external agencies as needed.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate logs of activities, incidents, and shift reports.
Ensure proper functioning of security equipment and report maintenance needs.
Monitor team attendance and adherence to schedules and provide feedback to Site Supervisor when necessary.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a security role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity preferred.
Military experience is a plus.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; additional security-related certifications are a plus.
Skills:
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using security systems, surveillance equipment, and report-writing software.
Certifications:
Must have an active security guard D license.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
Capacity to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoors and in adverse weather conditions.
