Job Description
Bay-Area based, privately held, retail company, with stores nationwide, has an immediate need for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team and play a critical role in financial reporting, analysis and report development to support decision-making. Candidate must have a background in accounting principles, month end process, data analysis, financial reporting with the use of advanced reporting tools. We are looking for a detail-oriented team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and correct errors and accounting discrepancies. The ideal candidate has interest in systems development, process optimization and is a go-getter.
Accounting Responsibilities
Audit multiple stores’ transactional media for accuracy and completeness
Trace transactions to source documents to determine discrepancies
Researching posting variances
Manage bank signature additions/deletions for all accounts
Perform monthly closing activities including maintenance of journals, accruals and allocation entries
Conduct monthly reconciliation of multiple bank accounts
Maintain balance sheet support schedules
Prepare and file multi-state sales tax
Prepare property tax form 571-L for each location, including business license renewals
Assist in the budget development and consolidation process
Perform ad hoc accounting activities as assigned by Controller
Documenting new process and procedures
Perform necessary administrative duties
Assist with miscellaneous overflow work
Analyst Responsibilities
· Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements
· Inventory cycle count process management and analysis
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and information necessary for financial report and analysis
· Develop and maintaining financial reports and dashboards using Cognos, advance database and advanced excel software tools to provide key performance indicators and variances
· Serve as subject matter expert on data sources, reporting tools
Job Requirements
4 to 6 years of accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting
Experience with accounting software is required
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel with the capacity to use functions, features and formulas to organize, analyze and adjust data to make complex calculations.
Experience in financial reporting tools and Cognos system
