Europa Village Wineries & Resort is looking to fill the full-time position of Senior Accountant. The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for accounting and finance functions of the winery including duties associated with maintaining a strong internal control environment, oversight cost accounting system and to provide support for project review, maintaining accuracy of the physical inventory, etc.
This position will also provide analytical support to the controller and executive team, assisting to identify areas of opportunity to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. This position will be viewed as the facility as the “cost expert”, helping manage costs as well as build and sustain a culture of cost control.

Job Summary:
A Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support audits, tax filings, and budget preparation. The Senior Staff Accountant often works closely with management, external auditors, and finance teams to optimize accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
Manage general ledger (GL) accounts, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
Perform variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions as needed.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, prepare tax filings, and assist in audits.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Monitor internal controls to ensure proper financial reporting.
Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits and financial reviews.
Utilize ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.) for financial reporting and data management.
Support the implementation of accounting policies, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements for Position:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting from four-year college or university.
Experience: 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in corporate or public accounting.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Pivot tables & VLOOKUP’s.
Experience in winery, retail, and resort inventory management and cost accounting is a plus.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, financial reporting, and accounting software (SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Oracle Cloud ERP experience is a plus).
Analytical Abilities: Ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliations.
Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently.
