Job Summary
The Senior Relationship Manager is responsible for developing a calling plan to maintain and grow existing relationships and is responsible for developing new relationships that meet the bank’s client selectivity and risk appetite. The Senior Relationship Manager has had proven success in independently winning new relationships (credit and non-credit) and negotiating terms with minimal assistance. Senior Relationship Managers are expected to partner with the appropriate commercial banking colleagues (Loan Coordinators, Credit Analysts) to develop and maintain credit relationships with the guidance of Credit Administration and the Regional Director. Senior Relationship Managers work closely with Treasury Relationship Managers to grow and service the non-credit needs of commercial real estate clients. This position develops and manages commercial real estate loan accounts which meet established lending and client selectivity requirements and provide maximum profitability to the Bank with a minimum of risk.
A Senior Relationship Manager has a proven ability to attract and retain quality clients and develop complex relationships that require a high degree of skill and banking acumen (e.g., strong negotiating skills, and the ability to provide/offer complex treasury solutions), along with leadership traits and the ability to effectively mentor teammates/team members.

Engages in business development activities and solicitation of new business prospects for the Commercial Real Estate team; actively involved in instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment through education of the Bank’s products and services; maintains active prospecting effort, including identification, qualification and calling; investigates and follows up on significant changes in status of existing customers; consistently balances prospecting efforts and quality customer maintenance responsibilities; meets with customers to discuss needs and outline appropriate bank services; resolves customer concerns or problems as necessary.
- Works with Commercial Real Estate teams to ensure that all portfolio management responsibilities are well documented and maintained in accordance with management expectations.
- Ensures that all proper due diligence is performed and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.
- Establishes, and negotiates as necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, collateral requirements, repayment method and schedule.
- Represents the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.
- Reinforces the application of superior client service through his or her own example, along with appropriate follow-through with involved clients and employees.

- Ensures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules and regulations; adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities specific to the position.
- Adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and OFAC regulations.
- Develops and maintains a deep understanding of non-credit products, seeks to uncover opportunities and appropriate solutions to help clients more efficiently manage cash flow.
- Counsels with and assists in the training and development of Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, Loan Coordinators and Credit Analysts.
- Completes special projects, as assigned by the Regional Director.
Qualifications/Education/Skills/Training:
- Bachelor's Degree or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Work-related experience should consist of commercial financial analysis, homebuilder finance, or a commercial lending background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal business school or financial industry related curriculum.
- Proven negotiating experience required to win, retain and restructure credit and non-credit services, accuracy, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and success working with clients with diverse banking needs.
- Strong experience, knowledge and training in understanding complex and sophisticated commercial real estate projects, both at stabilization and especially for ground-up construction. Reviewing land development projects and having a keen understanding of homebuilder finance construction projects is also desired.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups, including managers, customers and members of the general public.
- Experience in utilization of nCino Commercial Loan Origination System is desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, ability to write reports and correspondence and speak clearly to customers and employees.
- Ability to deal with normal problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations and apply common sense in carrying out instructions and solving problems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
Experience:
7 years of experience as a Relationship Manager or the equivalent.
- Must have excellent understanding and working knowledge of commercial real estate banking terminology, loan processing, loan documentation and lending procedures.
- Self-motivated and production-oriented with a proven ability to win and retain new relationships that meet the risk appetite of the Company.
