    We are seeking a highly motivated, technically skilled Finance & Accounting Senior Director. This role reports directly to the CEO and requires an experienced finance leader with a strong business acumen, strategic mindset, and results-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will excel in financial planning, budgeting, cash management, and ensuring adherence to appropriate accounting procedures and GAAP standards. The Senior Director will drive the development and implementation of systems, policies, and processes that foster company growth while maintaining strong business controls. As a trusted partner to the executive leadership, bankers, investors, and board members, the Senior Director will play a key role in driving financial success across the firm’s clients. This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and growth of the organization while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, business control, and collaboration.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the accounting close process for multiple clients, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP, including the review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
    • Serve as the final quality control and review point for all financial materials, including financial reporting packages, budgets, forecasts, board presentations, tax and audit documents, and SEC filings.
    • Establish and maintain an effective control environment to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Provide expert technical accounting analysis on complex topics, including financial instruments, derivatives, business combinations, VIEs, and joint ventures, and document conclusions for accounting positions.
    • Review and provide guidance on technical accounting analysis prepared by Accounting Managers for various accounting topics.
    • Assess the impact of new accounting pronouncements and work with clients to implement them effectively.
    • Lead the research and documentation of accounting treatment for new transactions and business initiatives.
    • Draft financial statements and footnotes in compliance with US GAAP, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax accountants, valuation experts, and other financial vendors.
    • Recommend and implement internal controls and best practices across client organizations.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor and business partner to client executive leadership teams.
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop Accounting Managers and other staff, providing coaching and career guidance.
    • Contribute to firm-wide growth initiatives, including business development, training programs, and process improvements.
    • Actively participate in strategic company discussions and internal management activities.

     

    Basic Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline required
    • CPA license required
    • SEC Reporting experience preferred
    • At least 12 years of progressive experience in accounting & finance, with significant leadership responsibility
    • 4+ years of FP&A experience
    • Strong knowledge and expertise in GAAP accounting
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
    • Experience in the life sciences industry preferred
    • Experience with NetSuite or Sage preferred

    Total compensation: $250,000 - $275,000k (including base + bonus + equity)
