Job Title: Senior Manager of Construction Accounting
About Us: Zero Impact builders is an end-to-end Renewable Energy provider. We offer products to commercial and enterprise clients in EV Charging solutions, Fleet Electrification, Solar Microgrids, Energy storage, Hydroponic farming, and Rainwater/Grey Water collection systems. We have been experiencing tremendous growth in all these areas and operate under several government rebate programs that ensure a steady and reliable flow of revenues. Our company handles the entire flow of providing these products and services beginning with Sales, Provisioning, Design and Engineering, Contracting and Construction, Servicing and Maintenance.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Manager of Construction Accounting to join our team. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Construction Arm’s financial accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. This role involves overseeing resources on accounting team that are dedicated to construction, managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, and implementing best practices to optimize financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll for our construction teams
Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk as it relates to running tens of construction sites simultaneously
Improve on and manage purchasing and approval process for procurement
Monitor budget variances and provide insights to senior management to support decision-making.
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Provide strategic recommendations based on financial insights to optimize performance and resource allocation.
Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure team members meet expectations
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors to facilitate the audit process and address any findings or recommendations.
Communicate financial information and insights effectively to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
Serve as a trusted advisor to management, providing financial expertise to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborating with the project manager to develop a detailed, cost-effective budget for the project.
Performing accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing invoices, estimating cash flow, and signing off on purchase orders.
Analyzing all transactions and working unforeseen costs into the budget.
Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.
Preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects' financial data and information.
Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review.
Researching market trends and projecting construction-related price increases/decreases.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Keeping abreast with both the construction and accounting industry.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in accounting
5+ years of managerial experience required.
3 years of “big 4” accounting firm experience is preferred
Experience in navigating through complex technical accounting matters is a must
5 years of experience managing a team
Current CPA license preferred
Requirements:
Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced workplace.
Very strong experience with Microsoft Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills required.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines required
Strong knowledge of federal and state laws required
Strong understanding of GAAP and tax law required
Strong work ethic and confidentiality skills required
