    As Electrical Project Engineer, you will be managing the delivery of electrical engineering designs using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to plan, organize, execute, and coordinate projects with proficiency. Serve as a technical advisor and mentor to other electrical engineers on the team and represent JMT with external clients and stakeholders. As the electrical design lead on specific projects, you will develop design strategies in collaboration with the team internally and bring that same level of leadership externally in client meetings and complex field situations. Provide quality oversight of design deliverables and coordinate JMT’s efforts with various federal, state, and local agencies.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilitie s

    • Perform engineering calculations and assessments to determine best practice electrical design solutions for specific applications.
    • Conduct field investigations, electrical load studies, code reviews, and scheme out electrical systems at a high level.
    • Supervise the production of electrical design documents (drawings and specifications) for bidding and construction.
    • Oversee the design and drafting tasks of junior engineering staff and perform quality control review of engineering calculations and design documents.
    • Coordinate project designs with client specifications and local, city, state code requirements, including interaction with code officials and permitting offices.
    • Navigate a variety of challenges in both preparing electrical designs and assisting the Owner/Architect/Contractor with construction issues in the field.
    • Serve as Project Manager on a range of project sizes which have a significant electrical design component.
    • Participate in business development activities such as attending local association meetings and industry conferences, client engagement, and proposal writing.

    • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, electrical load study, and/or photometric lighting calculation design tools
    • Understanding and application of building, energy, and electrical codes, as well as familiarity with Federal Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC’s)

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering program
    • Previous experience designing power and lighting systems of various sizes and complexities is necessary; experience with specifying fire alarm, telecommunications and specialty low-voltage systems is a plus.
    • Construction administration experience, or working knowledge of installation and/or maintenance of power, lighting and low-voltage systems, would be helpful in this role.
    • PE licensure is essential, and having an NCEES record is a plus.
    • Additional certifications or experience, such as Commissioning Agent, RCDD, LEED AP, is a plus.
    • Some experience in designing Green Building certified projects (LEED, WELL Building, NetZero, Energy Star, Earthcraft, etc.) is preferred.

    Working Conditions

    Work is predominately performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. This is an in-office position with regular opportunities for hybrid-remote work.

    Field work is required on occasion in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) and ability to climb stairs/ladders may be required as needed.
