Senior Electronics Engineer
Hybrid | Chanhassen, MN | Direct Hire | $125k - $140k
Overview: The role involves designing and developing custom mixed-signal, control, and data acquisition electronics. Responsibilities include hands-on design, prototyping (procure, build, test), team mentorship, resource planning, and project management. This position also requires coordinating with contract electronics manufacturing partners. The design team works closely with software and systems engineering to conduct integration testing and offers consulting support to manufacturing and service teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, document, and support mixed-signal electronic controls (procure, build, test).
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of mixed-signal design engineers and technicians.
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships with contract electronics manufacturers.
- Translate system-level requirements into detailed unit-level engineering specifications.
- Estimate development costs and timelines, and contribute to project planning and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with R&D management and the parent company to create the annual electronics engineering plan.
Critical Skills & Knowledge:
- Expertise in mixed-signal electronics design, testing, and integration.
- Proficiency in control systems and data acquisition/processing.
- Experience designing low-noise, medium-to-high-speed analog circuits.
- Knowledge of medium voltage (200V to 5kV) and HV (20kV to 30kV) analog circuits.
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art PCB and chassis-level electronics manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in instrumentation design for scientific research or advanced manufacturing is preferred.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to business partner and customer locations, including internationally (less than 10 days per year).
