Senior Electronics Engineer
Hybrid | Chanhassen, MN | Direct Hire | $125k - $140k
Overview: The role involves designing and developing custom mixed-signal, control, and data acquisition electronics. Responsibilities include hands-on design, prototyping (procure, build, test), team mentorship, resource planning, and project management. This position also requires coordinating with contract electronics manufacturing partners. The design team works closely with software and systems engineering to conduct integration testing and offers consulting support to manufacturing and service teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide technical guidance for a small team of mixed-signal design engineers and technicians.
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships with contract electronics manufacturers.
- Convert system-level requirements into detailed engineering specifications.
- Deliver accurate cost and timeline estimates for electronics development projects.
- Design, prototype, document, and support the development of mixed-signal electronic controls.
- Provide input for project planning and manage resource estimates.
- Proven leadership in managing design projects, including estimation, planning, risk mitigation, and execution.
- Experience using modern electronic design CAD tools for circuit layout, simulation, firmware development, and C-language.
- Ability to design, test, and troubleshoot complex hardware/software systems.
- Familiarity with firmware programming, Python, and Raspberry Pi is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required; advanced degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in chassis-level mixed-signal control electronics design, with 10 years preferred.
- Experience designing capital equipment for scientific research or advanced manufacturing applications is an asset.
- Occasional travel to business partner and customer sites, including international travel (up to 10 days per year).
