The Senior Engineer of Transportation Site/Civil is a leader of the Transportation Site/Civil engineering practice and exercises direct or indirect supervision of personnel assigned for projects within the transportation site/civil engineering practice and technical matters. The Senior Engineer is responsible for delivering technical excellence for projects from bid to completion, including being on time and within budget on project deliverables. The Sr. Engineer provides project management and technical expertise on projects. This position has technical excellence, management, and business development responsibilities for the division. The position includes a significant contribution to strategic planning and building the site/civil practice throughout the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical and leader for the group in providing senior-level quality control reviews for projects concerning:
Ability to comply with safety policies and practices and OSHA standards.
Routinely manage several projects concurrently.
Develop engineering reports, specifications, and cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
Lead/participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance.
Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action.
Design and detail full construction documents and specifications.
Coordinate with all project stakeholders on complex projects during design, documentation, and construction.
Provide technical contributions on the scope of engineering work, detailed and ongoing schedule input, man-hour requirements, and budgets for the assigned project elements.
Deliver quality projects on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.
Use effective oral and written communication skills to effectively assist with project, safety, and scheduling during construction progress meetings with client(s) and assist with proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
8+ years of experience serving site/civil agency clients involving planning, consulting, design, and construction services for various projects.
Demonstrated experience in successful project management, client interaction, and staff development.
Business development and marketing experience including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected work.
Valid driver’s license required.
