  • Responsibilities

    The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for handling the preventative maintenance and repairs for the facility, equipment, and machinery; this includes inspecting for any malfunctions, installations of new equipment and immediately repairing defective components to prevent delays in productivity. The position requires experience servicing a minimum of plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Responsibilities: Assist in the development of a preventative maintenance program and continued maintenance of the program to include: • Assessment of facilities, equipment, and machinery's operational conditions, carrying out repairs as needed. • Maintenance of existing production equipment. • Mechanical troubleshooting and deciding the best path forward on repairs. • Correcting potential safety hazards to avoid injuries. • Work within the established maintenance budget. • Routine upkeep on company-owned industrial lift trucks. • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality. • Inspect alarm systems such as carbon dioxide and fire protection and quickly schedule repairs when needed. • Knowledge of electrical circuits including 120V, 208V, 277V, and 480V. • Ability to troubleshoot electrical as well as the ability to work on potential live circuits safely. • Response to urgent breakdown/downtime events may require flexible scheduling to include after-hours. • Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide as needed. • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door, or wall repair. • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures. • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs. • Ability to make service calls to manufacturers and equipment vendors. • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof. • Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system. Qualifications: • This position requires at least a high school diploma or an equivalent degree such as a GED. Certifications are not required, although they can be useful as a means of demonstrating a potential candidate’s ability to handle the rigors of the job effectively. Must possess a strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods and physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building and/or equipment. • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems, with Multi-Craft-Maintenance experience. • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds alone. • Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions, heights, and small or tight spaces. • Ability to Pull Wire, Run Conduit, Sweat Pipe (copper), and Install PVC (Water Air). • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work individually and in a team environment. • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. • Computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). • Ability to work overtime and or weekends as needed. • Having some knowledge of safe working habits according to OSHA standards.
