Job Summary:
Performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer’s facilities. This includes electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. Responsible for troubleshooting, training, establishing LOTO, interacting with customers, report writing, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
- Must have extensive knowledge and be able to lead the following tasks:
o Transformer Testing – Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, and leakage reactance.
o Cable Testing – Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, and cable thumper
o Circuit Breaker Testing – Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, and vacuum bottle integrity testing.
o Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
- Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
- Plans, participates, and develops safety meetings and training.
- Must support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
- Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgement.
- Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred, training will be provided.
- Has demonstrated the ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
- Demonstrates organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrates the responsibility required to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.
Work Environment:
- Must be willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
- Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, but depending on the scope of works hours outside of business hours will be required.
- Work in close, but safe, proximity to live electrical substations.
- Must be able to work overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Must be able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects.
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
Education and Work Experience:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
- At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning required.
- Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
- Project management experience and be able to support management in the planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects. ****
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10/30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
