    Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Practice Management Intern in our in our Client Value & Practice Management department, reporting directly to the Public Law & Policy Practice Coordinator. The Practice Management team is an integral part of the firm focusing on internal and external needs and promoting overall operational efficiency within the Public Law & Policy practice. The Practice Management Intern will have the ability to gain an understanding of the behind-the-scenes operations at a lobbying and law firm with an opportunity for mentorship and professional growth.

    Key responsibilities of this position include:

    • Support practice management projects by conducting research, compiling data, and creating reports and charts.
    • Help maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking charts, including recruiting lists.
    • Update content for internal website.
    • Assist with onboarding and offboarding team members.
    • Format and proofread internal communications and presentations.
    • Maintain team calendar.
    • Assist with weekly and monthly reporting tasks.
    • Assists with other operational/administrative duties as assigned.

    Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

    • High School Diploma or equivalent, two years of college preferred
    • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook Word and PowerPoint
    • Established attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize among competing tasks under pressure and time constraints
    • Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with peers and superiors
    • Good judgment and a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and loyalty

  • Qualifications
    • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
    • 2 years of commercial driving experience with relevant cargo preferred.
    • High School diploma/GED preferred.
    • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per assigned vehicle type required.
    • Successful completion of a road test required.
    • Ability to meet company insurability standards required.
    • Ability to meet FMCSA drug and alcohol clearinghouse requirements.
    • Ability to meet all driver qualification requirements per Federal regulations (per 49 CFR part 391) required.
    • Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
    • No drug violations during the previous 5 years and proof of completion of a certified SAP program for violations over 5 years old required.
    • Basic knowledge of laws and government regulations and/or agency rules pertaining to commercial vehicle operations required.
    • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
    • Basic measurement and arithmetic skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
    • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers/vendors required.
    • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required.

    Work Environment : Warehouse/Field setting; minimal temperature environment

    Travel : Up to 10%
