JMT is seeking a Senior Inspector to perform as a senior level inspector, for work within Region 8 of the NYSDOT, in construction inspection engineering work.
Compensation is $45.00-$68.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise, in a limited capacity, project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
- In a limited capacity, assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
- Prepare project inspection reports
- Notify contractor of non-compliance and corrective action
- Perform field tests
- Interacts with the general public, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties during the course of the construction
- Work on behalf of the Client to resolve construction related field issues.

Required Skills
- Strong Computer proficiency
- Active driver's license
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful prior experiences with the NYSDOT, preferably with R-8
- 8+ years of roadway construction inspection experience
- NICET III, ACI Concrete Inspection, Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) training and OSHA 10Hr certifications REQUIRED
- Knowledge and experience in construction techniques, reading and understanding plans and specifications, procedures, methods, equipment and materials

Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field, within NYSDOT R-8. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work is conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid conditions. Night and weekend work may also be required.
