Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager
MWA, Inc. - Truckee, CA office is seeking a well-rounded and self-motivated applicant for immediate placement as a Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager. The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for leading and managing the design process for projects of all sizes and levels of complexity from concept to completion. This role requires a creative visionary with strong leadership and project management skills, able to translate client requirements into innovative and functional design solutions.

Candidate requirements
MS or BS in Interior Design or relevant experience.
Minimum of 8-10 years of professional interior design experience, with a focus on high-end residential and/or commercial projects.
Certification as a licensed professional (preferred but not required).
Proficient in computer-aided drawing, presentation tools, and software such as Revit, Excel, Word, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and interior design procurement software (such as Studio Designer or similar) required.
A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of completed interior design projects.
Previous experience working within an architecture firm (preferred but not required).
Deep understanding of interior design specifications, calculations, and industry standards.
Strong conceptual design and space planning abilities.
Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Attention to detail and high standards for design quality.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgets and timelines.
Knowledge of current design trends, materials, and products.
Requirements
Physical Body Positions and Movements: Standing, kneeling, bending and sitting for long periods of time. Carrying, use of hands, arms, legs, eyes, ears and voice. Must be able to negotiate rugged terrain on foot.
Physical Appearance: Must be presentable.
Mental: Good design and problem solving skills.
Language requirements are reading, writing, spelling and ability to communicate clearly in English. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints.
Reliable Transportation.
This position may require regular travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
Job Description
Design Leadership
Lead the conceptual development of interior spaces, creating innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs on multiple projects.
Participate in the design control of projects in the design development, construction documentation, and construction administration phases.
Research, source, and select materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet design intent and project requirements.
Draft detailed technical drawings, floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using Revit.
Collaborate closely with architects and clients to understand and actualize their vision, needs, and preferences.
Prepare and deliver compelling and effective design presentations and pitches to clients.
Project Management
Oversee all stages of project interior design and implementation.
Responsible for maintaining all project schedules, budgets, drawings, presentations, and documents.
Ensure that designs comply with all relevant building codes, regulations, and accessibility standards.
Review and quality control of all project-related work. Ensure all deliverables meet department quality standards before submission to the Director of Interior Design.
Troubleshoot design and construction issues as they arise, providing creative and timely solutions.
Develop and manage project/client budgets, ensuring that the design solution aligns with the client’s financial goals.
Work collaboratively with architects, project managers, contractors, suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Provide guidance and leadership to junior designers and support staff, fostering their growth and development. Effectively delegate lower level tasks to the team.
Business Development
Participate in prospective client pitches.
Accurately estimate project fees/hours for inclusion in proposals.
