Position Title: Litigation Paralegal Location: Los Angeles, In Person Reports To: Litigation Attorney/Legal Team
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team as an independent contractor. This role requires a dependable professional who can manage their workload effectively to meet the needs of active litigation cases. While contractors maintain the flexibility to set their own schedules, the demands of this position require consistent and reliable engagement to ensure deadlines and case objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management:
Organize and maintain case files with precision and attention to detail.
Track and manage deadlines, including court filings and other critical dates.
Document Preparation and Review:
Draft and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and correspondence.
Review and organize discovery materials, including e-discovery
Legal Research:
Conduct thorough legal and factual research using appropriate databases.
Summarize statutes, case law, and legal documents for attorney review.
Trial Preparation:
Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and other materials required for court proceedings.
Coordinate logistics for depositions, hearings, and trials.
Client and Witness Communication:
Serve as a liaison for clients, witnesses, and experts.
Assist in coordinating depositions and trial appearances.
Administrative Support:
Manage court filings and maintain correspondence with court personnel.
Accurately track and report billable hours.
Qualifications
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of litigation experience.
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software (e.g., Clio, LexisNexis, Westlaw).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with state and federal court systems, including e-filing.
Familiarity with case management and trial preparation.
Proven ability to manage workload independently while meeting deadlines.
Compensation and Terms
Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
