    Job Summary:

    The Senior EHS Engineer (Machine Safety) is responsible for supporting and delivering the BioNC Machine Safety Risk Assessment process in compliance with company requirements (WRAPS) and US Code requirements in support of a North Carolina Biologics expansion program.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with project teams to ensure U.S. and companies' machine safety requirements are fully incorporated into the vendor bid stage technical review process.
    • Ensure EHS compliance and machine safety considerations are integrated into design processes from the earliest stages to prevent rework and ensure compliance.
    • Participate in all stages of the vendor technical review, contributing an EHS perspective and providing solution-based support.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop compliance strategies aligned with regulatory and companies' requirements.
    • Provide technical support to the System Owner group to facilitate compliance with companies' machine safety expectations, and incorporate lessons learned and best practice solutions.
    • Participate in and support the project HazOp process, ensuring that identified actions are integrated into the design delivery process.
    • Establish the structure for the project machine safety risk assessment process, document all assessments and technical reviews, and report relevant KPIs at various stages of the machine lifecycle.
    • Conduct EHS reviews at various stage-gates in the project and manage measures to achieve action closure promptly.
    • Develop and set out the machine safety strategy while participating in FAT and SAT machine safety assessments.
    • Support other project EHS functions to ensure project EHS deliverables meet schedule and budget obligations.
    • Participate in ensuring that the W3 Care Custody and Control process identifies residual EHS issues and support prompt resolution of those issues.
    • Support project Pre-Start-Up Safety Review Process (PSSR) and ensure all relevant issues and identified and addressed.
    • Facilitate EHS training and communication to project and Operational Readiness teams.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • A third-level professional degree in EHS, Engineering, Science, or a related ?el
    • A professional accreditation in Machine Safety is essential. 
    • Strong project delivery experience in machine safety risk assessment within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS roles, particularly in machine safety delivery elements.

    Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Pro?ciency in reading and interpreting P&IDs and navigating CAD 3-D modelling platforms.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working in a project team delivery environment.
    • Pro?cient in general EHS management software and data analysis tools.

    Working Conditions:

    • Position based in North Carolina with a requirement to travel as necessary to support machine safety FAT and technical review process.
