Senior Manager of Nursing – Med Surg Floor
Our client: A full-service hospital capable of handling virtually all the healthcare needs in the community. Providing services in many specialty areas including women’s and children’s health; general, cardiothoracic, vascular, orthopedic and neurological surgery; advanced endoscopy, wound care, bariatric, cardiovascular, comprehensive stroke, cancer, immune health, behavioral health, psychiatry and neurosciences, pulmonary critical care and urology.
The Position: The Senior Manager of Nursing assumes 24-hour responsibilities in managing the operation and function of either a large or multiple nursing unit(s) or department(s). Support the values and goals of the Department of Nursing and the hospital. Works under the general direction of the director.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience in nursing.
- 2 years of charge or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency in clinical areas.
- Proven ability to lead, guide and motivate staff.
- Proficient with Epic EMR
- Experience in medical/surgical, nursing home or related specialty.
- Certification in applicable area of specialization.
- Current CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, supervise and coordinate the delivery of the optimal patient care on a 24-hour basis.
- Accountable for the effectiveness and efficient operation of the unit and staff including ensuring that orders, treatments and plans of care are being carried out in a supportive manner.
- Ensure unit compliance with clinical patient care standards, established policies and procedures, and regulations. Coordinate the development and evaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure staffing and scheduling supports efficient, high quality and cost-effective patient care.
- Develop and deliver a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards that are collaborative, collegial and utilize current trends and data in professional practice.
- Round on patients within the departments in the span of control. Prioritize staff nurse patient rounding accompanied by attending physician.
- Lead or participate in change of shift/morning and discharge planning meetings as appropriate. Ensure smooth transition.
- In partnership with Human Resources, make decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, etc..
- Develop and monitor budgets and expenses
- Ensure timely, complete and positive resolution to customer complaints.
