We have an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of our Rochester Hills, Michigan headquarters. The ideal candidate will have at a minimum a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, other engineering disciplines will be considered. They will demonstrate a high proficiency of design work done using SolidWorks and can show their capabilities via a design portfolio. They excel at working on challenging mechatronic integrations required for building autonomous vehicles. These integrations entail custom metalwork and plasticwork required for packaging components like sensors, motors, computers, electronics. They will excel at creating designs within SolidWorks and realizing their designs using a variety of equipment including waterjets, 3D printers, lasers, welders and powder coat stations. Lastly, they work well within a team atmosphere and excel in a high-paced, collaborative engineering environment.

Job Duties:

Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products.

Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.

Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration.

Perform engineering calculations to support design work.

Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.

Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.

Ensure project timeline is met, and project stays within budget.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field.

3-10 years of experience working in engineering.

Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products.

Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.

Proficient using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.

Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.

Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
