Senior Mold Design Technician - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 105k/year - Horsham, PA

- The Senior Mold Design Technician will design, fabricate, modify, and repair molds for plastic injection molding processes, ensuring high-quality production through advanced tooling expertise and process optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Design molds for plastic prototypes and manufacturing, utilizing hands-on experience and advanced tool-making techniques.
- Use SolidWorks software to create detailed mold designs and modify them as needed throughout the build process.
- Set up equipment based on mold requirements, materials, and tolerances.
- Use measuring and gauging tools to inspect and ensure molds meet specifications.
- Conduct quality control testing before molds enter the production cycle.
- Select appropriate materials and understand the different types of plastic and their behavior during the injection molding process.
- Train, monitor, and coach machine operators on mold-related processes and equipment.
- Study production and machine requirements to improve operational efficiency.
- Develop and test effective automated and manual systems to enhance production.
- Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling, transport) to streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers, internal staff, contractors, and suppliers to resolve issues and optimize production.
- Carefully document and maintain new and existing manufacturing processes, and train staff accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing procedures.
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology to improve performance.
- Address and resolve issues related to production, procurement, delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage non-standard requests to ensure high-quality service is maintained across all areas of the business.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in mold design and manufacturing, with apprenticeship or journeyman certification in tool and die making.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, with expertise in manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, quality assurance, and project management.
