Step into a critical role at the intersection of IT and industrial operations, where your expertise directly supports the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas. As a Senior OT Systems Engineer, you’ll design, configure, and deploy the network and virtual server infrastructure powering critical pipeline operations. From firewalls to PLCs, from cybersecurity to server virtualization—you’ll work with a wide array of systems that keep infrastructure running securely and smoothly.
This role demands a strong foundation in both enterprise and industrial networking, with the ability to troubleshoot across all OSI layers. You'll leverage your experience to enhance system performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate cyber risks in a 24/7 environment. If you’ve got a background in the oil and gas industry or industrial control systems, this is a chance to apply that knowledge on a high-impact team.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain resilient network and virtual server infrastructure for critical OT systems.
- Lead and manage projects focused on infrastructure upgrades, new deployments, and system enhancements—ensuring zero operational disruption.
- Act as a key player in regulatory compliance efforts (TSA, PSC), keeping systems audit-ready and secure.
- Architect secure communications networks using OT-specific protocols (Modbus, DNP3) and standards like the Purdue Model.
- Troubleshoot application, hardware, and connectivity issues with urgency and precision.
- Test and deploy patches, software updates, and system changes using a risk-based, operations-safe approach.
- Configure and administer firewalls, routers, switches, and identity access management systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
- Design and oversee installation of physical communications infrastructure including fiber and CAT5/6.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis to identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities.
- Keep detailed records, asset inventories, and documentation including network diagrams and runbooks.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise and industrial network infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of virtual server environments (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Experience in ICS/OT environments—SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, control networks, etc.
- Strong grasp of VLANs, routing, segmentation, and the OSI model.
- Familiarity with the Purdue Model, cybersecurity best practices, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with fiber optics and structured cabling systems.
- Ability to document complex systems and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical teams.
- Bonus: Experience with patch management, identity access tools, vulnerability scanners, and regulatory inspections.
Why Join?
This role offers a rare opportunity to be at the core of a critical infrastructure system, working on high-impact projects with long-term value. The position comes with a competitive salary ($94,000–$136,000) and a full benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. You'll also be part of a team that values innovation, operational excellence, and professional development.
Note: This position includes rotating on-call responsibilities to support 24/7 operations.
