Primary Job Duties
· Organize, track, build, and maintain case files.
· Prepare standard Judicial Council forms, pleadings, declarations, trial briefs and binders, exhibit binders, reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets.
· Maintain contact with opposing parties, counsel, and clients.
· Prepare and respond to discovery, which includes demand for the production of documents, interrogatories, requests for admissions, and subpoenas.
· Maintain a calendar to track deadlines in accordance with the Code of Civil Procedure, Family Law Codes, and the Rules of Court.
· Schedule client appointments, monitor calendars, and keep attorneys and clients informed of scheduled court dates.
· Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation.
· Perform miscellaneous job duties related to the position including potential new client intake, answering phones, and collections as needed.
Education/Experience
· Certificate in Paralegal Studies required.
· Minimum of 10 years of paralegal experience, 7 years of family law experience is preferable.
· Thorough knowledge of legal principles and practices.
· Must possess critical thinking skills, planning, and organizing skills.
· Strong communication skills and writing skills.
· Attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
· Proficient in Word Perfect, Microsoft Office, Essential Forms, Google Calendar, and knowledge of TimeSolv is preferable.
· Ability to handle multiple cases and job duties effectively and efficiently.
