    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst.

    In this role, the successful candidate Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for managing and ensuring accurate and timely payroll tax compliance, reporting, and filings. This position requires in-depth knowledge of payroll administration and payroll tax regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as the ability to ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
    The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst must keep accurate records of Federal, State and Local Tax and work to manage and resolve any agency notices and amended filing needs. They must stay updated on any new states or territories that NYU Langone Health does business in and ensure we get registered for tax payments, unemployment insurance and any other applicable payroll tax deductions such as state paid leave. They will take an active role in completing W2 and 1042 filings at year end by ensuring all adjustments are made and reports balance. The ideal candidate will serve as subject matter expert in handling tax notices and will have extensive experience in managing, interpreting, and resolving tax-related notices. This role involves a deep understanding of tax law, communication with tax authorities, and the ability to navigate complex compliance issues.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Exhibit in-depth knowledge of payroll practices, policy and procedures. Have overall knowledge of the laws and regulations concerning payroll taxes, payroll administration, payroll deductions and payroll processing.
    • Provide oversight to tax analysts in performing their assigned roles with respect to reconciliation and review of payroll tax filings and all other payroll tax functions as assigned.
    • Prepare, review and reconcile all payroll tax related forms for filing to Federal, State and local agencies where required.
    • Research and respond to notices from IRS and other state and local agencies in a timely manner.
    • Work closely with our tax service provider to ensure all taxes are paid timely and accurately and work with our treasury department to coordinate funds availability and payment.
    • Update our tax service provider on any new states or territories where NYU Langone Health conducts business and ensure we are registered for all applicable taxes.
    • Lead year-end PeopleSoft and Ceridian W-2 and 1042 reconciliation, filing and distribution process.
    • Provide subject matter expertise in resolving assigned Salesforce cases in accordance with SLA.
    • Assist in system testing software upgrades for all tax updates.
    • Assist management with payroll metrics reporting as needed.
    • Assist the balancing and verification of payroll cycles as needed.
    • Recommend best practice solutions and/or enhancements to current processing routines.
    • Assist in maintaining a third-party taxation database for Foreign Nationals.
    • Review and oversee the process for reporting tuition, relocation, interest and other items of imputed income.
    • Manage the data collection and processing of third-party sick pay. Communicate with external providers and reconcile records to ensure correct reporting.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree required. The individual should have a minimum of five years experience in payroll administration, including knowledge of Foreign National Tax, W2 reporting, as well as Federal, State and Local regulations, in a multi-state environment. The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst should exhibit sound knowledge of Payroll Practices, Policy and Procedures and exhibit exceptionally strong research skills. Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft applications is required. Experience with PeopleSoft or other Payroll System reporting is required. Experience with unemployment insurance regulations and working with government agencies is required. Must have strong written and verbal skills and excellent research skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    CPA or CPP certification preferred.
    Experience with Oracle Peoplesoft HCM preferred.
    Experience with Windstar reporting for Foreign National preferred.
    Experience with UKG (Kronos) or other timekeeping systems preferred.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $120,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
