    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist with bench-side expertise in genomics, automation, library preparation, and sequencing. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in advancing our research initiatives by leading experimental design, optimizing protocols, and driving innovations in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and related technologies. This role will involve cross-functional collaboration, mentorship of junior scientists, and hands-on laboratory work.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development, optimization, and execution of genomic workflows, including automation, library preparation, and sequencing.
    • Lead development of novel assays utilizing innovative library preparation methods and advanced molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid manipulation, barcoding, conjugation, microfluidics, etc.
    • Implement and refine high-throughput genomic assays, ensuring quality and efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in molecular biology workflows, automation platforms, and sequencing technologies.
    • Collaborate with bioinformatics teams to analyze data and improve sequencing methodologies.
    • Supervise and mentor junior scientists and research associates, providing technical guidance and training.
    • Manage laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with quality control standards and safety regulations.
    • Contribute to scientific publications, grant proposals, and presentations at conferences.
    • Stay up-to-date with advancements in genomics, automation, and sequencing technologies to drive innovation within the team.
    • Coordinate with external collaborators and vendors to evaluate and implement emerging genomic tools and platforms.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    To qualify you must have a PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Extensive experience with NGS library preparation, sequencing technologies, and automation platforms (e.g., liquid handling robots).
    • Expertise in designing and implementing cutting-edge assays.
    • Expertise in single-cell and high-fidelity sequencing applications is highly desirable.
    • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, amplification, and quantification.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of troubleshooting complex technical challenges.
    • Experience managing laboratory operations, including protocol development, quality control, and compliance.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to grant applications is a plus.
    • Experience with whole genome sequencing, single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, or long-read sequencing technologies.
    • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and data analysis workflows.
    • Knowledge of regulatory and quality standards for genomic applications in clinical or industrial settings.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
