    Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Spectral Algorithm Developer (Senior or SME level) to lead scientific research, algorithm development, and implementation efforts focused on material identification using infrared (IR) spectral data. This role requires a senior-level professional with expertise in developing methodologies and algorithms for analyzing spectral signatures and predicting material characteristics.

In this position, you will conduct research, develop proof-of-concept algorithms, and implement a full processing chain to match sensor data with a ground-truth database of material signal measurements. Your work will play a critical role in advancing the accuracy and efficiency of material identification processes, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and analytical methods.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform scientific research and proof-of-concept algorithm development for identifying materials based on IR spectral signatures.
    • Develop and implement Python-based spectral exploitation methodologies and algorithms.
    • Analyze the information content of spectral data across various resolutions (e.g., total intensity, multi-spectral, hyperspectral).
    • Conduct literature reviews and trade studies on the effects of material coatings and substrates on emissions of materials.
    • Design, test, and validate spectral algorithms to predict candidate material coating/substrate combinations.
    • Develop end-to-end processing chains that apply the developed methodologies to real-world sensor data.
    • Document methodologies, findings, and technical details in comprehensive reports and presentations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions into larger systems.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in a STEM field (Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).
    • Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in spectral data analysis, algorithm development, or related fields.
    • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
    • Experience with multi-spectral and hyperspectral imaging techniques

    Required Skills:

    • Proficiency in Python programming for algorithm development and data analysis.
    • Proficiency in scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib).
    • Expertise in IR spectroscopy and spectral signature analysis.
    • Experience designing and implementing processing chains for scientific or technical applications.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
    • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with Hierarchical Data Format (HD5, HDF5, etc.) containing multidimensional arrays of scientific data.
    • Experience with MatLab
    • Knowledge of material coatings, substrates, and their effects on spectral emissions.
    • Experience working with large datasets and ground-truth databases.
    • Background in software development best practices, including testing and validation.
    • Experience working in an R&D environment
