    About CDE

Clayco Design & Engineering (CDE) is a leading firm specializing in mission-critical structural design for data centers, high-tech manufacturing, and other high-reliability facilities. As part of Clayco’s integrated design-build approach, we deliver innovative, resilient, and high-performance structures that support the operational demands of mission-critical environments.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer – Mission Critical to lead the design and analysis of structural systems for data centers and other high-reliability facilities. This role requires expertise in designing robust, scalable, and resilient structures that can withstand seismic, wind, and vibration loads while meeting the uptime requirements of mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with steel and concrete structures, foundation design, and dynamic loading conditions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead structural design efforts for mission-critical facilities, ensuring high reliability and compliance with industry codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, etc.).
    • Perform structural analysis and modeling using software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or RAM Structural System.
    • Design steel, concrete, and hybrid structural systems optimized for data center operations and high-load environments.
    • Develop seismic, wind, and vibration control strategies to enhance structural resilience and performance.
    • Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of structural systems.
    • Oversee structural detailing and construction document preparation, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
    • Support construction administration, site inspections, and structural assessments to validate design performance.
    • Stay current with emerging materials, technologies, and industry best practices to enhance mission-critical structural design.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license required.
    • 10+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in mission-critical facilities (data centers, high-tech manufacturing, etc.).
    • Strong knowledge of structural analysis, dynamic loading, and foundation design for mission-critical applications.
    • Experience with progressive collapse, blast-resistant, and high-reliability design principles.
    • Familiarity with BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and structural design software.
    • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Willingness to travel to project sites for coordination and structural assessments.
