    Vice President, Compliance

    Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
    Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite)
    Compensation: $150-200K

    The Position

    As the Vice President of Compliance, you will lead the strategic direction and oversight of compliance activities across a diverse, multi-state portfolio, ensuring adherence to tax credit, HUD, and other housing program regulations. You will serve as a key executive leader, providing guidance and operational strategy to compliance and property management teams while driving process improvements and risk mitigation initiatives. Our portfolio includes over 27,000 units, consisting of mixed-subsidy properties, including HUD and tax credit programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    Executive Leadership & Strategy

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to scale an affiliated compliance team, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.

    • Provide high-level oversight, ensuring contracts, consents, and business operations are created and executed effectively.

    • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate compliance objectives across all operational departments.

    Regulatory Compliance & Oversight

    • Lead compliance oversight for a multi-state portfolio with diverse subsidy programs.

    • Establish reporting standards for compliance tracking and maintain real-time visibility into key compliance metrics.

    Policy Development & Process Improvement

    • Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures, ensuring timely updates as regulations evolve.

    • Drive efficiency by implementing technology solutions and process improvements to streamline compliance reporting and risk mitigation.

    Leadership & Training

    • Lead and mentor the compliance team across various locations, ensuring high performance and professional development.

    • Foster a culture of proactive compliance management and risk prevention.

    Stakeholder & Relationship Management

    • Serve as the primary compliance liaison with government agencies, auditors, lenders, and other external stakeholders.

    • Oversee third-party vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with compliance objectives.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 10+ years of executive leadership experience in compliance within affordable housing, property management, or real estate finance.

    • Proven experience overseeing large-scale portfolios (5,000+ units) with mixed-subsidy programs.

    • Expertise in LIHTC, HUD, HOME, and other federal/state affordable housing regulations.

    • Strong background in regulatory audits, risk assessment, and policy development.

    • Ability to manage cross-functional teams across multiple states, driving compliance and operational excellence.

    • Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.

    $150,000-$200,000 per year
