    Precise Systems is seeking a Senior Zebrafish Scientist with advanced experience with zebrafish or similar species assays, experimental design, and data analysis and communication. We seek candidates with a well-demonstrated experience record in animal research, particularly in designing high-throughput experiments for various behavioral assay techniques. The candidate will be supporting efforts with a heavy emphasis on cutting-edge instrumentation. Therefore, applicants who are willing to establish their own workflows and provide meaningful creative and technical leadership are highly desired.

    All work is performed on-site, in Edgewood, MD, 5 days per week. Remote work is not authorized.

    Duties:

    • Design and execute zebrafish animal assays for compound screening.
    • Conduct behavioral assays and effective concentration experiments using state of the art equipment.
    • Work with other researchers to propose novel research topics.
    • Keep detailed records of laboratory operations and compile data in regular technical reports.

    Required Education:

    • Master’s degree with five years of experience or a doctoral degree with a background in Molecular biology and Physiology.

    Required Experience:

    • Must have some hands-on experience with drug screening or toxicological assessments, with willingness to work with toxic compounds of interest.
    • Experience preforming molecular biology and physiology experiments with zebrafish or similar animal species.
    • Past experience in delegating tasks within a research team to prioritize productivity.
    • Demonstrated team leadership.
    • Must be able to design, plan, and execute experiments to understand behavior effects of compounds of interest.
    • Demonstrated technical/scientific leadership skills and a passion for problem-solving.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Able to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment.

    Desired Experience:

    • Experience with transgenic zebrafish experiments
    • Experiment mounting and staining zebrafish for microscopic examination

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

    Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $76,236.48 to $114,354.72 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems’ total compensation package.
