REPORTS TO: Service Manager
JOB SUMMARY: This position performs basic repairs of small engine power equipment such as chainsaws, agricultural and outdoor power equipment under the direction of a Service Manager or senior technician. This position learns new processes and techniques by participating in on-the-job training. It is important for this position to have a fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, power-trans, air-conditioning, and electrical systems as they apply to machines marketed by Goldman’s dealership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform basic service job tasks as assigned.
Develop skills in removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
Perform routine maintenance checks servicing fuel, power train, electrical & hydraulic systems to ensure peak performance, safety, and longevity of the equipment.
Participate in Service training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge of Deere products.
Assist senior technicians as needed.
Maintain the condition of service vehicles, trailers, tools and equipment.
Maintain a clean work area and perform job tasks in a neat and orderly fashion.
Follow all safety rules and procedures and participate in safety meetings and training.
Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
Account for all time and material used in performing assigned duties.
Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspection on new equipment when required.

Other duties and projects as may be assigned or re-assigned from time to time.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Good Math skills
Secondary education or training in heavy equipment mechanics that includes electronics and hydraulics is beneficial
2 year experience repairing agricultural equipment/outdoor power equipment, John Deere specifics, preferred
2 year experience performing simple welds, welding techniques
2 year experience in standard computer software, internet
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of outdoor power equipment/agricultural equipment.
Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, power-trans, air-conditioning, and electrical systems as they apply to machines marketed by the Dealership.
Ability to work varying weekends, and holidays.
Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
Ability to deal with employees and public in a courteous, tactful, and patient manner.
Ability to take initiative and organize responsibilities and job duties to obtain maximum effectiveness.
Ability to “think outside the box” and use creative thought processes in problem solving.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, the ability to distinguish and identify colors, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
The working environment while performing the duties of this job will require the employee to frequently work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (weather), extreme heat (weather), and vibrations. The employee may occasionally be required to travel for meetings and to customer's location to repair equipment. The working condition in those instances will require the employee to be able to occupy and operate motor vehicles to navigate unfamiliar roadways and farming fields.
