As a Human Resources Generalist at ServiceMaster TRS, you will be at the heart of our HR operations, ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day functions. Your responsibilities will include spearheading staff recruitment and interviewing processes, managing payroll, benefits, and leave administration, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Generalist reports directly to the Vice President of Administration and Human Resources.     Work Setting: Hybrid, primarily remote with required in-office days as needed

    Reports to: VP Administration & Human Resources

    Travel:

    This position will require travel to our Kingwood, TX location as needed, with a minimum of quarterly visits. Candidates located closer to the Kingwood area may be expected to travel more frequently. Additional opportunities for overnight travel may be required for meetings or professional development activities.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position does not have any direct reports.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Recruitment and Hiring

    Manages the recruitment and selection process, ensuring the hiring of competent job applicants by collaborating with departmental managers to understand required skills and competencies.

    Conducts or facilitates background checks and verifies employee eligibility.

    Manages job postings, new hire orientation, onboarding, offboarding, and maintains accurate and up-to-date job descriptions.

    1. Compliance and Documentation

    Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; regularly reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance across multiple states.

    1. Employee Relations and Support

    Handles employment-related inquiries, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

    Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

    Resolves conflicts and answers questions, grievances, and concerns regarding company policies, fostering a positive work environment.

    1. Benefits and Leave Management

    Administers leave of absences, including short-term disability, long-term disability, and FMLA.

    Oversees health benefits open enrollment and monthly benefit enrollments for new hires and change requests.

    1. Payroll Administration

    Manages bi-weekly payroll submission, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

    Handles payroll-related inquiries and resolves any discrepancies.

    Ensures compliance with payroll laws and regulations.

    1. Record Keeping and Data Management

    Ensures accurate maintenance and storage of employee files and records in the HRIS, both electronically and in paper form.

    Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems for efficient data management and reporting.

    1. Training and Development

    Assesses and identifies training needs, designs and implements training programs, evaluates their effectiveness, and supports change management initiatives.

    Position Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:

    Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

    Ability to prioritize tasks

    Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

    A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, related field or equivalent years of experience.

    2-4 years in a Human Resources position, with a substantial portion of it in a service operation.

    Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM certification preferred but not required.

    Strong knowledge and working experience with Human Resources Information Systems.

    Prior experience with payroll administration.

    Quickly adapts to new technologies and systems relevant to HR management, including talent management systems.

    Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
