Internship Program Overview

What you will do
Design Operations – join this team and partner closely with Design Program Managers to evaluate effectiveness and impact of our existing programs. Represent the needs of our team by gathering various research/data points from discovery techniques and measurement strategies to help refine and improve our programs for the coming year. You will get to create, plan, and manage your own data driven project around improving effectiveness of the design operations team.
Product Design - We work on some of ServiceNow’s highest visibility offerings including the Platform UI, Agent Workspace, Service Portal, and the mobile app that are driving innovation across the company. Learn from a team of experts in UX Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, and Front-End Development.
Technical Writing - this role is part of the Experience Organization, made up of passionate people who work together to drive user research, UX and Visual Design, Research, Technical Writing and Editing, prototyping (and more!) with the goal to create best in class enterprise software products. The Product Content group works closely with other groups to create product documentation, troubleshooting materials, videos and blogs, contextual help, and other types of content designed to improve customer experience and success.
UX Design – this dynamic team works closely with designers on ServiceNow’s Design System and Platform design teams. You will work on creating new concepts with wireframes, producing high-fidelity mockups, writing detailed documentation, and critically assessing designs. Interns on this team will be able to experience first-hand, the creative processes as they exist in an Enterprise software environment.
UI Visual Design – this team is responsible for creating new concepts with wireframes, producing high-fidelity mockups, writing detailed documentation, and critically assessing designs. You will be crafting visuals that help illustrate and help reinforce storytelling from end-to-end. In addition, interns work closely with designers on ServiceNow’s Design System and Platform design teams.
UX Research – we represent the needs of customers and their end users, gathered via various research methodologies from discovery through design validation techniques. Our interns partner closely with Sr UX staff to help influence the product strategy and roadmaps with validated user research findings. You will be able to participate in planning and facilitation, analysis and reporting on various research
initiatives, as well as support design formative or summative validation through iterative usability testing
Research Operations – this team partners closely with Design and Research team to evaluate effectiveness and impact of our existing programs. You will represent the needs of research team by gathering various research/data points from discovery techniques and measurement strategies to help refine and improve our programs for the coming year. On occasion, you may play a research assistant role by, supporting user researchers in moderating studies, taking notes, creating transcriptions, or editing videos.
Qualifications
Who you are
· Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Graphic/Visual Design, Cognitive Science, Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related disciplines
· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate and explain your design decisions
· The ability to work independently and as part of a team, and bring a willingness to learn through design thinking and execution
· Have knowledge or project experience in successfully applying design methods to solving problems and/or project management experience
Technical Writing additional skills:
· Able to learn highly technical products quickly, using pre-release software and internal documentation
· Experienced in obtaining information through research, interviews, and experimentation
· A Liberal Arts or Communications student with 30 hours or more of upper division or graduate school credit
· Can provide a solid writing sample demonstrating your ability to research, analyze, and apply critical thinking to a subject OR sample web pages or other multimedia communications project with a brief summary of how the project was created and the deadline for the work
Design Operations additional skills:
· A portfolio showcasing your work and/or projects is required at time of interview
Product Design additional skills:
· Proficient using Sketch, Photoshop, or other relevant design tools
· Understand user interface design, heuristic methods, or other usability evaluation techniques, perception, cognition, task analysis, experimental design and statistics
· Knowledge of web and mobile technologies, including social networking and messaging information architecture and other productivity applications
· Bonus points for having basic knowledge of front-end development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript
Research Operations additional skills:
· Pursuing a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in the Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or other related degrees
· Some working or project experience successfully applying customer-centered research and mixed design methods
· Working knowledge of user interface design, usability evaluation techniques, perception, cognition, and experimental design
