Opposing Forces (OPFOR) Role player

Position Summary: OPFOR Role player will perform role playing work at a professional level for a U.S. Army field training exercise in order to facilitate realistic training in preparation for real-world events and scenarios the unit will likely encounter during contingency operations. OPFOR Role Player supports training events located at Pope AFB, NC (Pope Army Airfield-Fayetteville, NC). These events require role players to understand scenarios and can react to a wide variety of responses from candidates or students. Additionally, role player will adjust appropriately depending on the desired outcome of the learning event. This is a part-time, on-call position.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience in SUT (Small Unit Tactics), special reconnaissance, and airfield operations including landing zones (LZ's), helicopter landing zones (HLZ's), drop zones (DZ's).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience of tactical and operational leadership.
- Ideal candidate will have experience serving in Special Operation Forces units (AFSOC, USASOC, MARSOC, NAVSPECWAR) in positions of leadership at a platoon level and higher.
- Experience in planning/executing SOF missions to understand the employment of OPFOR/Role Players to meet training objectives. Similar experience in SWAT/Law enforcement will be considered.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with role players, project team members, and other stakeholders. Ability to provide clear instructions and guidance to role players.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Attention to detail in planning and coordinating role player activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in weapons handling and operation training when required: Rifle, Pistol, Blanks and Dye-Marking Cartridges.
- OPFOR Role players must understand how to engage students at the appropriate level of intensity and then adjust responses based on the performance of the student.
- Role players must understand the intent, mechanics, and flow of each exercise.
- Perform OPFOR duties in an austere environment with limited infrastructure (including running water, power, HVAC etc.).
- Perform in urban/mounted operations training and may be shot at using blank-firing weapons or dye-marking cartridges (SIM-FX, Ultimate Training Munition/UTM, or paintball).
- Role players may be required to “die in place” or to be captured after a simulated firefight.
- Integrate into military scenarios using weapons, equipment, and various vehicles in a multitude of situations such as hostile forces, ambushes, sniper, friendly forces, police, host nation civilian, terrorist, etc.
- Ensure all weapons are properly cleaned and maintained to the USAF EOS armory standards and returned upon completion of duty.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Proficient in tactics and weapons handling, as well as follow guidance and scenario development from 352d SWTS instructor cadre/planners.
- Have a minimum of two years' experience as previous military, law enforcement or first responder to simulate real combat scenarios.
- Have completed ROHVA training on All-Terrain Vehicles and MRZR have high proficiency using Night Vision Goggles and Gas Masks.
- Comfortable with the possibility of being exposed to tear gas because of being in close proximity to students.
- Must be of general good health to participate in these exercises.
- Able to speak, read and write English. A second language is a plus.
- Have a clean background check. There will be no indicators in the background check that would preclude applicants from handling weapons, ammunition, or pyrotechnics, or would otherwise in good faith represent a risk to U.S. Military personnel. OPFOR personnel must notify the Site Manager of any incidents that impact their suitability to possess firearms.

- Capable of heavy lifting and carrying 50 pounds; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; walking (4 hours); standing (8 hours); running (1 hour); crawling (30 minutes); kneeling (30 minutes); repeated bending (1hour); Good visual perception.
- Able to function in the following environmental factors: outside and inside; excessive heat; excessive cold; excessive humidity; excessive dampness or chilling.
