  • Responsibilities

    Sewer/Water Line Inspector / Construction Manager The Sewer Inspection I position is responsible for providing Quality Assurance and inspecting the Contractor’s work and ensuring that the work is in accordance with the Project specifications and drawings. The ability to report on the completeness of the constructed work.

    Knowledge of:

    • Standards and procedures pertaining to the inspection of wastewater system facilities Standard construction techniques and materials used for sanitary sewer mains, laterals, manholes, siphons, and pump stations

    • Construction and construction drawings, blueprints, specifications and utility plans, especially for underground facilities

    • Traffic control techniques and requirements

    • Confined space and safety practices within the workplace

    Ability to:

    • Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), utility plans and specifications

    • Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet strict deadlines Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing Understand and follow written and verbal instructions

    • Deal tactfully and courteously with others, including coworkers and the public Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

    • Work in both a team-based environment and independently to achieve goals and accomplish tasks

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and Two (2) years of wastewater systems installation and maintenance experience, including at least one (1) year at a level equivalent to Water & Sewer Maintenance Worker II

    CERTIFICATES Preferred but not required:

    • Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program (PACP) certification issued by National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASCO)

    • A Water Distribution System Operator Certificate (Grade D-1 or above); and

    • A Collection System Maintenance Certificate (Grade 1 or above)
