We are looking for a Sheet Metal Apprentice in the Bristol area that will fabricate, build, and install various types of metal structures and equipment for facility maintenance and installation programs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Helps install sheet metal equipment and ductwork per the drawings and specs outlined to safely construct specified structure.
- Properly install sheet metal accessories.
- Work safely, follow OSHA standards along with New England Air Systems protocol.
- Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Uses appropriate machinery to complete assigned jobs.
- Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
- Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16”.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate fractions.
- Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
- Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
- Team player who can also work independently.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Will work with a high school senior who is looking for a co-op experience with their tech school.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
