Job Description
Sheet Metal Mechanics for industrial and commercial projects. The Sheet Metal Mechanic will fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal products and equipment such as ducts in commercial or industrial environments. Their expertise is vital in industries like power generation, manufacturing, and construction where they often collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure seamless infrastructure integration. Must be familiar with HVAC systems, plumbing systems and industrial plant utilities utilizing boiler systems, steam piping, compressed air systems, hot and cold-water piping systems, and other process systems.
Job Responsibilities (List is not inclusive)
Installing sheet metal duct - rectangular, flex, etc. in a commercial setting
Installing other components of HVAC systems such as grilles, registers, AHUs, RTUs, and VAVs
Cooperate with other trades on the project to complete the project
Locate and mark position of pipe and/or duct connections and passage holes, then cut openings to accommodate pipe and/or duct fittings.
Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable power tools.
Install, assemble, repair and clean systems to include Heating, Ventilation and air conditioning ducts, or other sheet metal products.
Perform layout activities, and material takeoffs as necessary
Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installation
Remove old water source heater pumps and ducts
Communicate with Foreman, Superintendents and Safety Managers
Working knowledge of all hand and power tools
Qualifications
· Previous duct work experience
Ability to read and comprehend project drawings components submittals and shop drawings.
Must be able to self-check own work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and schedule requirements.
· Adheres to all safety protocols, project rules, and company policies and procedures.
· Welding experience preferred
Work Environment
· Required to adhere to large amounts of noise, standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
· Required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level.
· Must be able to lift objects up to 50lbs.
