    Deliver Professional Development

    This involves presenting the principles of Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP®) and other effective instructional strategies for ELLs. Lead workshops on various topics like lesson planning, differentiation, assessment, and cultural responsiveness.

    We are looking for trainers who can demonstrate Sheltered Instruction techniques in classroom settings or through video examples, showcasing how to make content comprehensible for ELLs, create opportunities for teachers to share ideas, observe each other, and practice new strategies in a supportive environment. This will involve peer coaching, lesson study, or action research.

    Trainers will work with school administrators and teachers to integrate SIOP® into curriculum and instruction. They will help develop school-wide strategies for ELL support. Trainers will follow up with teachers to observe their classrooms, provide feedback, and offer individualized support as they implement Sheltered Instruction techniques.

    They will create or curate resources that align with Sheltered Instruction principles, such as lesson plans, graphic organizers, and assessment tools.

    Key Qualities of Effective Sheltered Instruction Trainers

    \- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the eight components of SIOP® and how they apply to different subject areas and grade levels.

    \- Be able to engage adult learners, create a safe learning environment, and encourage active participation.

    \- Have firsthand experience teaching ELLs and understand the challenges and opportunities involved.

    \- Be committed to culturally responsive teaching and can help others develop their cultural competence.

    \- Be able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and build strong relationships with teachers and administrators.
