DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise Community Technicians in ensuring the safety and smooth 24-hour operation of the shelter. Assist the Site Coordinator in overseeing departmental tasks and goals as well as overall facility operations. Serve as lead manager in the absence of more senior managers. Provide wrap-around overtime coverage as needed. Perform crisis intervention when required. Participate in the design and implementation of program improvements, policies, procedures, and other strategic planning efforts. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.
HOURS
Full time, 37.5 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS
H.S. diploma/GED required. B.A. preferred. At least one year supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with homeless, mentally ill, and substance abuse populations strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal managerial and supervisory skills necessary. Experience working in residential settings also preferred. Good writing skills and computer literacy required. CPR/AED/first aid/naloxone, fire safety certification, or ability to pass tests to acquire these credentials, required. Bilingual preferred. Valid driver license and willingness to operate program van preferred.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
BRC began operating its newest program, the Jack Ryan Residence, in August 2011. The Jack Ryan Residence, funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services, is a 200-bed shelter for homeless men living with mental illness. The program provides a complete range of mental health stabilization, medication management, case management, and medical services aimed at moving residents into permanent housing. The ultimate goal of the program is to place its clients into appropriate, supportive housing within nine months.
