RESPONSIBILITIES
· The shipping lead will split time in an office setting and in the production setting (palletizing, loading trucks, labeling, wrapping, etc.)
· Oversee daily shipping operations to ensure orders are shipped and delivered as scheduled
· Provide estimated shipping costs and transit times
· Coordinate customer pickups
· Negotiate rates with freight carriers
· Inspect shipping labels, barcodes and packing slips for accurate information
· Resolve issues regarding in-transit and/or scheduled shipments
· Collaborate and provide support to other depts; production, customer service, etc.
· Maintain job-related confidentiality.
· Process return shipments
· Assist final assembly dept with bagging and boxing chairs for shipment as needed
· Assist with palletizing freight, boxing samples, stretch wrapping pallets and obtaining weights and dims for outbound shipments
· Keep track of trailers and which order they are for that are staged at dock doors
REQUIREMENTS
· 1+ years shipping lead experience preferred
· Solid knowledge of logistics procedures
· Analytical, well-organized and detail oriented
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to take initiative and make decisions with minimal supervision
· Proven motivated and dedicated work ethic.
· Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with carriers
· MS Excel & Outlook experience required
· FedEx Ship Manager and Epicor experience preferred.
· International shipping experience a plus
Other Functions:
· Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
· Forklift operation a plus
